From April 2023 to December 2025, I was responsible for the INEOS Project ONE as Logistics Manager.

Project One (https://project-one.ineos.com/en/ ) is the largest investment in European chemicals in the past 25 years, worth €4 billion. The ethylene cracker, which will be the most sustainable of its kind, will be commissioned in 2026. Over the past few years, the construction of the plant has provided work for hundreds of people, with more than 3,000 people employed at peak times.
The logistics of such a construction project are, like the investment amount, enormous.
Together with three EPC partners (Tecnicas Reunidas, Wood, and Technip), 14 semi-sub carriers, 15 heavy-lift carriers, and many part charters had to be transported to and from Abu Dhabi, Hamriyah, Thailand, China and the Philippines to Antwerp.
Through my dedication and insight, I was able to achieve savings of more than €20 million by changing the shipping arrangements as engineered by the EPC partners.
Due to global problems (Houthis - Red Sea), the savings were able to compensate for the extra costs of sailing around the Cape of Good Hope, which exceeded the budget.
I look back with pride on a unique project, with unique and enthusiastic people, unique logistics, and unique challenges. I did my job as Logistics Manager alone, but without the help of a unique team, I certainly would not have succeeded. Thank you to all my INEOS colleagues, and I wish everyone a smooth and safe commissioning phase and start-up of the Ethylene cracker.

Logistics Manager INEOS Project One

INEOS Project One is the new build of a new state of the art ethylene cracker plant in Antwerp Belgium. This project is a $3,5 billion investment, the largest investment in the EU over the last 25 years. With Project ONE, INEOS is bringing one of Europe’s most energy-efficient and technologically-advanced chemical complexes for the production of ethylene and propylene (olefins) to the Port of Antwerp. Expected go live is in 2026.
My assignment : preparing the Logistic execution plan and procedures to include into the Project Execution Plans.
For this:
  • Oversees all project logistics execution
  • Act as coordination between Procurement and construction teams to ensure alignment
  • Develop and implement logistics strategy
  • Oversee Execution of the logistics plans:
  • Preparation of all procedures needed from Logistics workforce in the early stages of project execution:
  • Terms and Conditions for transport.
  • Packing, Marking and Shipping Instructions
  • Transport Plan
  • Insurance coverage and claim procedure
  • Customs strategy
  • Ensure all logistics implications are managed and fulfilled in relation to Custom Duties
  • Ensures all required documentation is coordinated to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the tendering and award of all logistics contracts (logistics surveys, transportation, freight forwarding, export packing, customs clearance, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS) and regulations associated with import/export
  • Route and arrange transportation of shipments between Site, module Yards and Marshalling Yards.
  • Coordinate transportation for normal loads, special oversized loads, hazardous and complex international shipments by all modes of transportation
  • Perform expediting and/or tracing activities with carriers, packers, and shipping agents
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to transportation, import and export.
  • Arranging for maritime surveyors as necessary
